Vocal Health and Singing Different Styles

Aspiring singers have a lot of questions about how to sing well across different genres. In this short deep dive, Co-Founder Ashley Daneman provides her perspective on this exact topic!

Also, sometimes when students who have been self-taught for a long time, they may have some problems going on in their throat. They sometimes believe that they “can’t sing” anymore, or that they have something really wrong. More often than not, it’s just a matter of getting some professional help to direct you back to vocal health - either by retraining your voice with one of our teachers, or by sending you to a Speech Language Pathologist for more serious matters (who can verify what type of vocal pathology/problem you have), or a combination of these two approaches. Your throat should never squeeze, tighten, feel tired or choked up when you sing, no matter what you're singing!
