Saxophone Lessons at Kalamazoo Music School
We are proud to offer our community’s leading saxophone lessons with world-class saxophone teachers here at the Kalamazoo Music School, serving students from Kalamazoo, Portage, and Battle Creek, MI.
In addition to challenging every student with technical exercises and ensuring they develop mastery of the saxophone, our woodwind teachers serve as mentors and guides as part of your musical journey!
Do I Need a Saxophone?
Generally, we recommend having a saxophone available at home for practice, as sharing woodwind and brass instruments is not sanitary! If you do not own a saxophone, our wonderful staff would be more than happy to recommend a make and model to purchase or rent, while also sharing valuable resources and the best marketplaces to shop for an instrument, as well as options for saxophone rentals.
WHAT ARE PRIVATE Saxophone LESSONS LIKE?
You can expect several things from your saxophone lessons here at KMS:
Lesson plans carefully crafted to challenge and push you to become a better musician;
Fun, engaging, and interactive lessons!
When you begin at KMS, our expert saxophone teachers (see below) work with you to craft a lesson plan that fits your individual needs and the student's favorite type of music. Whether you are playing in a local orchestra, are a seven year old taking their first lesson, or a fifty year old returning to the saxophone after many years, we will set goals to achieve your musical aspirations. As part of our private lesson program, you would:
take weekly private lessons (in 30, 45, or 60 min sessions)
perform (optional) in 3 stage concerts in December, March, and June
stay focused + track progress in your dedicated practice binder
access rewards, prizes + encouragement all year long through our KMS Practice Challenge
HOW QUALIFIED ARE KALAMAZOO'S Saxophone TEACHERS?
Our saxophone teachers have received their education from prestigious institutions such as Manhattan School of Music, Eastern Michigan University, and of course Western Michigan University. Many of our instructors have performed nationally as soloists or as part of touring bands and have over 25 years of professional performance and teaching experience combined. In addition to their teaching credentials, our teachers have warm personalities, are extremely friendly, and strive to get to know each student (and their parent, if younger) on a personal level.
DO I HAVE TO KNOW HOW TO READ MUSIC?
